Okay, so I decided to mess around in the kitchen and ended up making something I’m calling a fusion pizza. It wasn’t really planned, just kinda happened.

Getting Started
Had some pizza dough I bought, didn’t feel like making it from scratch today. Looked in the fridge and saw some leftover stuff that got me thinking. Had some cooked chicken, half an onion, some bell peppers, and then I spotted a jar of Gochujang paste. Yeah, Korean chili paste. And I thought, why not? Pizza, but make it Korean-ish?
Prep Work
First thing, I got that dough out and let it sit for a bit, get it to room temperature. Easier to work with. While that was happening, I chopped up the cooked chicken into smaller bits. Thinly sliced the onion and the bell peppers too. Needed a ‘sauce’, right? So I grabbed the Gochujang, mixed it with a tiny bit of soy sauce, a dash of sesame oil, and a little bit of honey to balance the heat. Didn’t measure precisely, just went by taste. Stirred it up until it looked like a weird, reddish pizza sauce.
Building the Thing
Alright, time to assemble. Stretched out the pizza dough on my pan. Didn’t get a perfect circle, but whatever, it’s homemade. Spread that Gochujang mixture all over the base, edge to edge mostly. Then, cheese. Just used regular shredded mozzarella, nothing fancy. Sprinkled that on top of the sauce. After the cheese, I scattered the chopped chicken, the sliced onions, and the bell peppers evenly over it.
Into the Oven
My oven was already preheated, pretty hot. Carefully slid the pizza in. Now, the waiting part. Just kept an eye on it. Wanted the crust golden brown and the cheese all melted and bubbly. The smell filling the kitchen was definitely… different. Not your typical Italian pizza smell. It was savory, a little spicy.
The Result & Taste
Took it out after maybe 15 minutes? Looked pretty cool, actually. The red sauce base peeked through the cheese and toppings. Let it cool for a minute because molten cheese is no joke. Cut myself a slice. First bite… okay, interesting. The Gochujang sauce gave it a sweet and spicy kick, totally different from tomato. The chicken, peppers, onions, and cheese worked well with it. It was definitely a fusion taste. Not bad at all! Honestly, quite liked it. Might add some kimchi next time? Or maybe some garlic? Needs tweaking, but it was a fun experiment and tasted surprisingly good. Definitely beat ordering takeout again.
