Alright, so I finally carved out some time today to get my rosters updated in MLB The Show 23. It’s always a bit of a task I put off, but gotta keep things current, right?

Getting Started
First thing, obviously, was firing up the console and launching the game. Had to sit through the usual loading screens, you know the drill. Once I got to the main menu, the hunt began. I always forget exactly where they tuck away the roster options.
I poked around a bit. Checked under ‘Settings’, then maybe ‘Options’? Nah. I think it was somewhere under the ‘Create’ section, or maybe it had its own little icon. Ah, yeah, found it eventually – something labeled like ‘Data Utility’ or ‘Roster Control’. Pretty sure it was ‘Roster Control’.
Downloading the Goods
Inside that menu, the option was pretty obvious. It said something like ‘Roster Update’ or maybe ‘Download Live Rosters’. Clicked on that one. It immediately prompted me about connecting to the network, which, yeah, makes sense. I double-checked my internet connection was stable first; nothing worse than a download failing halfway through.
So, I kicked off the download. It wasn’t super fast, but not terribly slow either. Just watched the little progress bar fill up for a few minutes. Grabbed a drink while I waited. Once it hit 100%, I think a little notification popped up saying it was complete.
Checking the Results
It probably asked me to save or apply them. Honestly, I just clicked through whatever confirmation screen appeared. Seemed straightforward enough. But, you know me, I like to be sure. So, I backed out to the main menu and then went into the ‘Rosters’ section – the one where you can view and edit player details.
Spent a few minutes just scrolling through some key teams. Checked the Yankees, Dodgers, my favorite team of course. Looked for players who got traded recently, made sure they were on the right squads. Checked if some of the rookies I’d been hearing about were finally added. Everything looked pretty good. Ratings seemed tweaked here and there too, which is expected.
So yeah, that’s the process. Pretty simple, really. Just navigating menus and waiting for a download. Now the rosters are fresh, ready for whenever I jump back into my franchise or just play an exhibition game. Feels good to have it sorted.
