Alright, alright, let me tell ya ’bout this Monopoly New Year’s Eve Bash thing. Heard about it from my grandson, the one glued to that phone all day. Says it’s some kinda game thingy on that little machine.
So, this Monopoly New Year’s Eve Bash, sounds fancy, huh? But it ain’t nothin’ but a game, a game where ya gotta get points, or somethin’. My grandson, he keeps yappin’ about “milestones” and “rewards.” Says ya gotta do stuff in the game to get ‘em. Like, landin’ on special spots, or buyin’ up all the properties, you know, like regular Monopoly.
Now, I played Monopoly back in the day, the real kind, with the board and the little metal pieces. Used to get so mad when my sister would cheat and sneak money from the bank! This newfangled version, it’s all digital. No real money, no fightin’ over who gets to be the racecar. But my grandson says it’s just as fun, maybe even more so ‘cause it’s got all these flashy lights and sounds.
He told me ya gotta earn points. Says there’s a tournament, a “Solo” thing, whatever that means. Sounds lonely to me. Back in my day, games were for playin’ with other folks, laughin’ and arguin’. But these kids, they like starin’ at their screens all by themselves, I guess. Anyway, to get them points, ya gotta do stuff in the game. Like, build houses and hotels, collect rent, bankrupt your opponents, you know, the usual Monopoly stuff, but it’s all done on that little screen.
- Landin’ on special spots: He said something ‘bout landin’ on certain squares on the board gives ya extra points. Like them railroad spaces and utility companies.
- Buyin’ up properties: Seems like the more properties ya own, the more points ya get. And if ya get all the properties of the same color, that’s even better, just like the old game.
- Completing sets: If ya get a whole set of properties, like all the yellows or all the blues, that’s a “monopoly” and ya get a bunch of points. That’s how ya really start makin’ the big bucks, or, well, the big points, in this case.
He keeps talkin’ ’bout “leaderboards” too. Says it shows who’s got the most points. He gets all excited when he sees his name movin’ up. I don’t get it, all that competition. But if it makes him happy, I guess it’s alright.
And then there’s these New Year’s Eve Bash rewards. My grandson says ya get special prizes for doin’ good in the game. Like extra money, or special game pieces, or somethin’. He was real happy when he got some kinda “golden dice” the other day. Said it made him lucky. Kids these days, they get so excited ‘bout the silliest things.
Now, I don’t know much ‘bout this digital Monopoly stuff, but it seems like a lot of work. All that point collectin’ and milestone chasin’. In my day, we just played for fun. But I guess times have changed. And hey, if it keeps my grandson outta trouble, then I ain’t complainin’. He seems happy, tappin’ away at that phone, yellin’ when he gets a good roll or a new reward.
And from what I gather, this ain’t the only time they have these tournaments or events. Seems like they’re always addin’ new stuff to keep folks playin’. My grandson says they had some kinda Christmas event before this, and probably gonna have somethin’ else after New Year’s. Keeps him busy, that’s for sure. Probably spends too much time on that thing if you ask me, but what do I know? I’m just an old woman.
So, if you’re lookin’ to play this Monopoly New Year’s Eve Bash, I guess just remember what my grandson told me. Land on special spots, buy lots of properties, complete sets and get lots of rewards. That’s how you win, I think. And maybe have a little fun along the way. Just don’t go cheatin’ like my sister used to. And don’t forget to eat your dinner and go outside every once in a while!
