Okay, dudes, let’s dive into this “Brian Harman WITB” (What’s In The Bag) thing I messed around with today.

So, I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter online about Brian Harman’s setup, especially after his killer performance. I got curious and decided to, you know, try and replicate it – as much as a regular guy like me can, anyway.
First, I gathered all the info I could find. I spent a good chunk of the morning digging through articles and forums. It’s surprisingly tricky to get the exact specs sometimes!
My “Harman-Inspired” Setup
- Driver: I don’t own every driver under the sun, I tried with what i got, set it to around 9 degrees, just like they say Harman does.
- Fairway Woods: These were a bit easier,I just tweaked my existing 3-wood and 5-wood to roughly match what I read.
- Irons: This is where it got, uh, interesting. My irons are definitely not the * I did my best to adjust my grip and stance a bit.
- Wedges: I already had wedges that were pretty close in lofts, so that was a win!
- Putter: No way I could replicate his putter exactly,I used my trusty old putter.
Next up, I headed to the driving range. Let me tell you, it’s one thing to read about a pro’s setup, and another to actually try to swing like them.
I started with the driver. I focused on trying to keep my swing plane a little flatter, like I’ve seen Harman do. I’ll be honest, it felt weird. I sliced a few, hooked a few, and generally felt like I was all over the place. I did manage to hit a couple of decent drives, though, which was encouraging.
Then I moved on to the fairway woods. I was trying to mimic his ball position. That didn’t go so great either. I topped a couple, chunked a few, and generally made a mess of things.
The irons were…well, they were the irons. I tried to adjust my grip and stance, but honestly, I didn’t notice a huge difference. I’m just not good enough to really feel the nuances, I guess.
The wedges were probably the most successful part of the experiment. Since I already had similar lofts, it was just a matter of practicing my short game. I worked on some chip shots and bunker shots, and felt pretty good about those.
Finally, the putter. I just used my normal putting stroke. Nothing fancy, nothing special. I sank a few, missed a few, just like usual.
So, what’s the takeaway? It’s fun to try and copy the pros, but it’s really hard. I have a newfound respect for Brian Harman and his skills. I also realized that my own clubs, while maybe not the “best,” are probably good enough for me. At least for now! The main thing is just getting out there and playing, right?
