Hey everyone, it’s been a while, but I’m back with an update that’s pretty close to my heart. As some of you might know, my family and I went through a bit of a rough patch recently. It all started a few months ago when the youngest of my three sons, Maximus, started feeling under the weather. We didn’t think much of it at first, you know, kids get sick all the time. But this was different.
We took Max to the doctor, and after a bunch of tests, he was diagnosed with something called Guillain-Barré syndrome. Never heard of it before, and honestly, it sounded scary as hell. It’s some kind of rare neurological disorder. This was a real shocker for me and my wife, Chelsea. I mean, one moment everything’s fine, and the next, you’re dealing with a medical emergency.
So, there we were, thrown into this whole new world of doctor visits, treatments, and a ton of worry. I even had to step back from my work for a couple of weeks to be there for Max and the family. It was tough, no doubt. Watching your little guy go through something like that is heart-wrenching. There were days when I felt completely helpless.
Our Family

- Maximus
But you know what? Max, he’s a fighter. He went through his treatments like a champ. And Chelsea, she was amazing, holding everything together. We also have two other sons, Charlie and Brandon. They were worried too, but they were so brave and understanding. It was a team effort, really. We stuck together, supported each other, and just took it one day at a time.
After a lot of ups and downs, I’m beyond relieved to say that Max is doing much better now. It’s been a long road, a real grind for about three months, as I said. But seeing him getting back to his old self, playing around, and just being a kid again, it’s the best feeling in the world. He really is a special boy.
This whole experience, it’s changed us. It makes you realize what truly matters. All those little things you used to stress about, they just don’t seem important anymore. And you know, as a family, we’ve come out of this stronger. It made me remember my own mom, who passed away from skin cancer when I was a kid. She was from Peterborough, Ontario, and my dad’s from Windsor, Ontario. That’s why I wear her initials on my jersey. Family is everything, right? So, that’s our story. Thanks for listening, guys. It feels good to share and to know that there’s a whole community out there who cares.
